Troop 1396 is about to make a splash at Trout-O-Ree, April 10–12 at Graves Mountain Lodge in Shenandoah. Get ready for a weekend packed with epic fishing tales, campfire laughs, and outdoor adventure with Scouts from the Prince William, Burke Lake, and Cub Run Districts — and maybe even the one trout big enough to become a legend.
With four awesome places to fish — the Rose River, Robinson River, Catch & Release Pond, and Pay Pond — there will be plenty of chances to cast a line and test your luck. Bring extra socks and a backup pair of shoes, because soggy feet are basically part of the adventure, and if you are 16 or older and heading for the rivers, do not forget your fishing license and trout stamp.

This year, Troop 1396 is heading to Antietam National Battlefield for a powerful weekend of learning, reflection, and adventure.
Known as the site of the bloodiest single day in American history, more than 23,000 soldiers were killed, wounded, or missing on September 17, 1862. During the campout, Scouts will hike the battlefield, walking the historic ground to see key locations firsthand and learn why this battle became a turning point in the Civil War.
Join us as we explore history where it happened, build endurance on the trail, and grow together through leadership, teamwork, and shared experience.
Registration Deadline: *** March 10, 2026 @ 9PM ***
Campmasters: Dennis Caravantas, Diann Tarney
Departure: Depart LRMS on March 20, 2026 @ 5:30pm
Campsite Location: Antietam Creek Campsite: 17844 Canal Rd Sharpsburg, MD 21782 (sites 9-13)
It’s time to break out the iron, light the charcoal, and prepare for a sizzle-and-rizzle showdown that will echo through the campsite (and possibly the mess kits).
Each patrol will attempt to impress the judges — or at least avoid total culinary disaster — by cooking a two-course Dutch oven meal:
1 Entrée
1 Dessert
Judging will be based on:
Taste (important)
Presentation (mostly important)
Doneness (very important)
Originality (did you mean to do that?)
One patrol will hoist the Golden Spoon in victory.
Others may be left scraping burned mystery food into the woods. Such is camp life.
A 5-mile hike with orienteering will be available for those who need the requirement — or just enjoy walking off dessert.
Cabin space is limited, so grab a bunk before someone else claims the good one.
Bring your best recipes, your worst ideas, and your sense of humor.
Let the chaos begin!
