It’s hard to believe but it’s already time to start preparing for summer camp! The Troop PLC has decided that we will be attending a week long summer camp at Camp Marriott on Goshen Scout Reservation. We will be attending July 3rd through July 9th.

Camp Marriott offers 3 different programs:

  1. Basic weeklong camp working on up to 6 merit badges.

  2. New Scout Quest designed for new Scouts who need to work on rank advancement. There is also the opportunity to earn 3 merit badges.

  3. Vets program for older Scouts (aged 14+) – I am still waiting on detailed information about this program but it offers more high adventure options.

The cost of the camp is $420 for a Scout (adult price are TBD based on how many will be attending). There are additional costs involved for the ATV program ($50) and for shotgun merit badge ($45). These costs need to be paid when you turn in your permission slip. At this time they still do not have details on the Vets program and if there will be an additional cost. Payments can be made via cash, check, Scout account or online charge payment.

Summer Camp Documents:

  1. Permission Slip - This needs to be completed and turned in with payment no later than March 22nd.

  2. New Scout Quest Schedule

  3. Camp Marriott Map - This is important to look at so you can figure out where your merit badge classes will be so you are not running back and forth through camp to get to your classes on time.

  4. Camp Marriott Program Schedule - This is all of the merit badges being offered at camp and needs to be turned in no later than March 22nd.

  5. Goshen Special Medical Form – This form is in addition to the ABC Medical form that you should have on file with the Troop, you will be contacted if your ABC medical forms need to be updated.

  6. Packing List

  7. Medical Form ABC

  8. Scout Camp Brief

This camp runs their merit badges different than Justice Scout Camp did last summer. At Camp Marriott you have six time slots during the day and you merit badge class is run every day. It is strongly suggested that something should be taken during each session and that you take at least 1 Eagle required merit badge (in bold on program schedule). Open Shoot is typically reserved for those taking a shooting merit badge. Open Program at Handicraft is a drop in sessions and you can work on as many of those merit badges as you have time for, there are 5 choices available. Some programs have age restrictions and they are as follows: Climbing 13+, ATV 16+, COPE 14+ and Vets program 14+.

When turning in your permission slip please also include your merit badge selections, please write your name on the attached schedule and circle your choices.
