Troop 1396 will be going to summer camp Sunday, June 23 to Saturday, June 29. We will be camping at Camp T. Brady Saunders located on the Heart of Virginia Scout Reservation, which located about 30 miles west of Richmond, VA.

1. Scouts and Adults register here no later than March 12. Summer camp program/merit badge selection opens on March 15 and is on a first-come first-served basis.

2. Medical Forms. All medical forms (parts A, B & C) must be completely filled out and dated after June 1, 2018. All completed medical forms must be submitted to the Camp Masters no later than the close of the June 5 troop meeting. Please plan accordingly if you need to make a physician’s appointment.

3. Pay.

$310.00 Youth ($285 Early Bird* – 50% ($142.50)of fees due by the close of March 12 troop meeting). The balance will be due by the close of the 21 May troop meeting.


This includes Handicraft Kits, Rifle*, Shotgun* Merit Badge Ammunition, Archery Kits, COPE & Ranger Challenge, etc. – does not include merit badge pamphlets

*Additional ammo may need to be purchased if the Scout needs extra attempts at qualifying for the merit badge beyond that provided for the class

$100 Adult - Balance due by the close of the 21 May troop meeting.

$25 per night for leaders not staying the entire week

$7 per meal for guest meals

Summer Camp Programs:

1. Merit Badges: 60+ Merit Badges in merit badge offerings in Aquatics, Handicrafts, Outdoor Skills, Shooting Sports, S.T.E.M, Nature, Eagle Area, and Climbing Programs.

2. Trail Blazer first year program helps immerse new Scouts in the skills they will need to succeed as Boy Scouts. This program is designed to expose young Scouts to the requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class ranks.

3. Ranger Challenge geared toward Scouts who are interested in having an adventure both on site and at interesting destinations around the area. A wide variety of activities will be offered each week which may include special canoe outings on the James, Dutch Oven feasts, Zip line, 3D Archery Adventures, Night Canoe Trips, Crabtree Falls Night Hikes.

4. C.O.P.E. High Rope Adventure is comprised of group initiative games, as well as low and high-rope course activities. Some of the activities involve a group challenge, while others test individual skills and agility. Participants climb, swing, balance, jump, rappel and think of solutions to a variety of activities.

COPE RECOMMENDATION/APPLICATION SHEET - Bring completed form to camp, participants must meet minimum requirements to participate.

RANGER CHALLENGE PERMISSION FORM - Consent form required for traveling off-site in TBS High Adventure Programs & Activities.

PERSONAL FITNESS PACKET - Need to have completed before camp to participate in the Personal Fitness Merit Badge

PERSONAL MANAGEMENT PACKET - Need to have completed before camp to participate in the Personal Management Merit Badge


STEM EQUIPMENT RELEASE SHEET - Sheet must be completed to have STEM equipment issued for merit badges, please submit to merit badge instructor on first day of class.
