Scouts of Spy Troop 1396:

We currently have less than 3 weeks to prepare for operation NIGHT EAGLE.  If you do not yet know what NIGHT EAGLE is, you need to read my previous e-mail.

Your first required Tradecraft is Codes and Ciphers.  Attached to this message is a document that teaches you about the code we will be using for this operation.  Print it out and use the guide and encryption sheet to decode the following message before Tuesday’s meeting.

Here is the coded message:
CURSH, CJFTT, 5GSHI, QOR3F, URIZI, HISFH, 3OOJI, ZPC6O, OCJFQ, UR6F

For the code to work, please note the following:

  • The KEY is 1396
  • Ignore the commas.  They are just there to help with reading the all  the letters and are not part of the code.
  • Remember that you are decoding so make sure that you shift your letters in the correct direction.

Goodluck,

YIS,
Kurt Schwoppe
Spymaster
(Code Name:  Ricochet)
