Training Day is coming October 1st

Troop and Crew 1396 Adults,

 

The information for the upcoming Occoquan District Training Day is finally out! We are working towards having all registered adults trained for their positions. This means completing:  Fast Start (online, Boy Scouting +/or Venturing), This is Scouting, Youth Protection Training (+/or Venturing YPT), and Leader Specific Training (Scoutmaster/ASM or Troop Committee or Venturing Leader). We would also like all Merit Badge Counselors to take the Merit Badge Counselor Orientation. CPR is also being offered with registration due by September 17th. Life to Eagle is being offered for Life Scouts and their parents. Most of these trainings can be completed on October 1st at Grace Baptist Church.

 

Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills is being offered  Oct. 21-22 at the Izaak Walton League in Stafford, VA. This is required for Scoutmasters, Venturing Advisors and all of their assistants. Troop Committee may also take this course. Registration must be received by Oct. 8th.

 

As always when you finish any training please email me copies of all your training cards.

Fall Court of Honor & Picnic

Scouts and Scouters, Family and Friends, Troop and Crew 1396:  

 

Troop 1396 will hold its Court of Honor (COH), Awards Ceremony, and family picnic on Saturday, September 10.

The event will be held at Lunga Park in Quantico at the Hickory Pavilion and will begin at 12pm.

(See attached flyers and directions). You will need a photo id to get onto the base.

 

The Troop will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixin’s, plus all paper products. 

We ask that each family please:

  • bring a side dish to share
  • donate $10.00 to help cover the cost of the pavilion and food
  • bring drinks for your family if you would prefer something other than water and lemonade

In order to help determine how much food to purchase please bring the following to the next meeting (8/30):

  • $10 to help cover the cost of the pavilion and food
  • The attached, completed Attendance Slip to include how many people in your family
    will be participating and which side dish you intend to share

PS - Those interested in fishing or bringing a canoe/kayak/inflatable boat are welcome.  If boating, please bring life jackets!
